Tuesday 24 September. “Copperart”.
6pm – 8pm
Fish Lane Studios, Level 2, The Fox Hotel, South Brisbane.
David and Angela have recently taken up residence at the newly refurbished Fox Hotel’s art space, Fish Lane Studios. Inspired by alchemy, they have been subjecting salvaged copper wire to transformation, continuing to add to a series of expensive object sculptures which were started earlier this year while in residence at Metro Arts.
The exhibition Copperart is partly in response to their new surroundings at The Fox Hotel. Likening their new studio space to a ‘boudoir’, they have used the rooms as a backdrop to a video recreating 80s and 90s advertisements by Copperart, a home wares shop from that era that promised affordable luxury.
At the exhibition you can view known favourites such as the Red Tibetan Mastiff and see the unveiling of new pieces inspired by the likes of Damien Hirst. In addition to this, their evening will be hosted by local thespian Geoffrey Vagg.
